What is a layperson?

A layperson is someone with no medical training certified through a credential course to respond to an emergency.

What can I expect of the American Heart Associations Heartsaver Courses?

Courses are designed to enhance learning by providing ample time for hands on practice and instructor mentoring. Instructors will guide students through a video-based curriculum allowing students to Practice While Watching. This approach allows the instructors to provide students with immediate feedback on their performance. More practice time results in better skills retention.

What is the student workbook?

Workbooks are required for all American Heart Association courses and are based on the New 2010 CPR & ECC Guidelines. Workbooks are the framework to each course they coinside with the lesson plans of each topic. In addition, they contain step-by-step instructions to prepare you for the skills test at the end of the course. Refer to it after the course as a refresher. Heartsaver Workbooks include: Course CD, CPR Refresher Cards

How do I pay for the class?

Cash, Money Order, Corporate Check, or PayPal. No personal checks accepted. PayPal Button at bottom of course pages. Confirm class prior to payment.

Lifeline CPR is based in Tarrant County, Texas and availiable to the surrounding counties.

Do you have short notice booking?

Will there be a test?

There is no longer a written test to become a layperson, but a skills test is required. You must be able to successfully demonstrate competency in various skills.

When will I recieve my course card?

Upon completion of course and skills test, when applicable.

How long are course cards good for?

2 years per AHA guidelines

What if I have a mouth sore or am sick?

For the protection of the other students anyone with mouth sores or illness will be asked to reschedule. Group classes will not be canceled; however, the infected person will need to reschedule.

What is cancelation policy?

Lifeline CPR must be notified 48 hours prior to scheduled class to recieve a full refund. PayPal refund fee's will be applied. Call 817-675-3611 or email: LifeLineCPR4Life@gmail.com

What if I lose my card?

Replacement cards may be issued. You will need to provide the date your course card was issued, which course, and the requesting students full name. Replacement cards cost $10.00 each.

How old must I be?

There is no set age limit, but students must be able to successfully complete any skills testing.

What if I have never taken CPR or First Aid before?

There are no prerequisites for Heartsaver or Family and Friends courses. Determine the class that best meets your needs and come ready to learn.

Once I am certified am I required to assist in an emergency?

Only because of job responsibility or regulatory requirements are you required to respond. When responding to an emergency you have a legal responsibilty to respond with the level of training you have recieved. You are not expected to respond as if a paramedic or nurse would.

What is the Good Samaritan Act?

Good Samaritan Act protects responders from liability. The laws assume that you acted in good faith and within your training limits. You are not expected to respond as a parmedic or nurse would.
