Pediatric First Aid
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid:
Pediatric First Aid is designed for childcare providers or anyone responsible for children such as: teachers, foster parents, adoptive parents, social workers, coaches, youth organizations, recreational centers, and libraries to name a few. This course teaches CPR, relief of choking, basic first aid, and the early signs of a heart attack and stroke. Optional courses: Infant CPR and choking and AED (automated external defibrillator) training. Course cards will be issued upon successful completion of training. © First aid steps for injury emergencies:
o Bleeding you can see
o Mouth and tooth injuries
o Broken bones, sprains, and bruises
o Bleeding you can't see
o Burns and electrocution
© First aid for environmental emergencies:
o Bites and stings
o Temperature-related emergencies
o Poison emergencies
o Drowning
© Optional topics:
o Eye Injuries
o Fever
o Snakes, poisonous spiders, scorpions, ticks, and marine animal bites
o Suspected Abuse
© Learn and demonstrate CPR skills
o List signs of choking
o How to help a choking victim
o 911-answering dispatchers questions
